The Picture Gallery at Prague Castle provides a focused opportunity to view over 100 masterpieces from one of Europe's most significant historic art collections. Located within the architecturally distinct former stables beneath the Spanish Hall, this exhibition serves as the successor to the original collection established by Emperor Rudolf II at the turn of the 17th century. Following a complete technical modernization in the late 1990s by architect Borek Sipek, the gallery offers a refined space where works are organized by their respective local painting schools. It represents the oldest continuously existing painting collection in the Czech Republic, making it an essential stop for those who value both royal provenance and concentrated artistic excellence.
