Get statistics

Read exact GoVisit catalog coverage statistics for the physical World or a selected Destination, with observation dates and provenance.

What this skill provides

The get-statistics skill packages instructions for get_statistics and its generated HTTP contract. It calls the tool's stateless HTTP adapter, using a required pagePath plus the tool's arguments. A compatible coding agent can call it without browser WebMCP or a browser session.

Use a pathname from an actual canonical GoVisit link. Page language and published scope come from that path. The adapter reads a public page snapshot using normal caches; it does not search an unrestricted backend or infer traveler location.

Send this body to POST https://govisit.ai/api/tools/v1/get_statistics. Use /en for physical World statistics, or a canonical Destination pathname for its coverage. Optional category defaults to coverage. Read the generated HTTP contract for the exact input, successful output and transport error schemas.

Interpretation limits

Read data.scope, data.metrics and data.missingCodes. Home, Places and Destinations landing paths provide physical World observations. Destination category and collection paths provide their parent Destination observations, not statistics for a category or collection. Individual Place, documentation and blog paths are unsupported.

Use exact values with metric codes, definition versions, sources, observation dates and windows. data.count is the number of metric members returned, not a catalog total. A measured zero is zero; missing, invalid, duplicate or unavailable observations remain unknown. A partial result is useful only for its returned members. An unavailable result returns HTTP 503. Never broaden the requested scope silently.

Catalog coverage is cached and is not live availability. Coverage is recalculated daily, so returned counts can lag catalog changes and be slightly inaccurate within the day. Each unchanged metric retains its earlier observation date; page freshness and package versions are separate. Do not derive totals from bounded search results or sum overlapping Destinations. World destinations counts all Destinations; Destination destinations counts descendants and excludes itself. The homepage Destinations headline uses the same World destinations total, rounded down to the nearest hundred: 4,987 displays as +4,900. The tool preserves the exact observed value.

Optional coverage reads during page rendering have a 1.5-second deadline. Timed-out observations remain unknown. Destination pages retry failed optional reads through background revalidation after one minute; the tool can return partial or unavailable results until observations recover.

This example verifies the original archive before installing its expected files into a govisit- prefixed directory. It gives the installed skill the same prefixed name; the canonical package and contract stay unchanged:

Installed copies are snapshots and do not update automatically; keep the package version and contract reference together.
