Náměstí 14. října serves as a historical nucleus within Prague Smíchov, offering a quiet yet dense collection of architectural and cultural landmarks. The square is anchored by the Neo-Renaissance St. Wenceslas Church, a significant basilica constructed in the late 19th century that features intricate paintings and sculptures. Across the way, the Baroque Portheimka summer villa, designed by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer, represents a distinct earlier period of the city's architectural legacy, despite partial demolition during the church's development.
