Overview
The Kostel Nejsvetejsi Trojice v Podskali stands as a resilient marker of Prague's past, historically serving as the primary spiritual home for the river loggers and raftmen of the Podskali settlement. Originally preceded by the 14th-century church of St. Antonin, the current site represents a Baroque transformation from 1728 that salvaged precious remnants from the medieval era. Visitors can view the wall behind the main altar which still houses segments of late Gothic frescoes from the late 15th century, alongside an altar base built from a 16th-century stone mensa. The bell tower continues to hold historical significance, featuring bells cast as early as 1549 and 1559. Despite weathering floods and structural decay over the centuries, the church remains a tangible connection to the working-class roots of this riverside neighborhood.
