Kostel Sv. Frantiska z Asissi

The Church of St Francis of Assisi is a striking Baroque structure situated right by Charles Bridge at Křižovnické náměstí. Designed by the architect Jean-Baptiste Mathey, it stands out for its unusual blend of Roman Baroque dynamics and French Classicist restraint, exemplified by its unique stone facade. Inside, the space is a carefully composed arrangement of architecture, painting, and sculpture, most notably featuring the impressive Last Judgment fresco in the cupola by the renowned painter Václav Vavřinec Reiner. Please note that the church does not operate as a standard public museum; rather, it primarily welcomes visitors during late-afternoon organ music concerts, which provide the best opportunity to experience its interior architecture and acoustics.
