Overview
Sovovy Mlýny, known today as Museum Kampa, is a vital piece of Prague's architectural and cultural history. Situated on the scenic Kampa Island, these former mills have been transformed into a museum for 21st-century art. The site carries the legacy of the Odkolek family, who once turned the mill into a steam-powered industrial center in the 19th century. Following a massive, thorough reconstruction led by the city in the early 2000s, the buildings were adapted for modern gallery use while preserving the characteristic neo-Gothic facade designed by Josef Schulz. Today, the museum stands as a beacon for modern art, showcasing collaborations with significant global institutions, all while maintaining a stunning visual presence along the Vltava riverbank.
