Přehled
Divadlo Metro is a central Prague landmark situated on Národní Street inside an 1870 neo-renaissance palace. Originally designed by Bohumil Tesař, who collaborated on the National Theatre, the building has a rich history that evolved from an office block and specialized culinary shop into a hub of performing arts. The theater space, historically adapted for pantomime and black theater, now functions as a modern stage with a 209-seat capacity. Since its 2024 transformation, the venue has narrowed its artistic focus to prioritize light, playful, and humorous comedy, featuring works from Czech and international authors. Beyond its core theatrical productions, the stage hosts a diverse rotation of guest performers, stand-up routines, and musical concerts. The theater maintains an inviting atmosphere, with artistic director Antonín Procházka jr. aiming for every guest to leave feeling relaxed, cheerful, and inspired by their time in the space.
