Prasna brana

The Powder Tower stands as one of the most prominent monuments of late Gothic Prague, completed around 1475. It served as a grand entry into the Old Town, specifically marking the beginning of the Royal Route that monarchs followed during their coronation processions toward St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle. Stretching 65 meters in height, the structure is renowned for its elaborate stonework, which features statues of kings and Czech patron saints. Visitors can climb the 186 stone steps to reach the observation gallery at 44 meters, providing an exceptional view of the city center. The history embedded in the site is immense, as it replaces an older 13th-century gate and includes details like the names of early visitors carved into the stone near the observation deck, some dating back as far as 1821.
