Staronová Synagoga

The Staronová Synagoga stands as a rare and vital piece of 13th-century European history. Located at Červená 250/2, this building has functioned as a site of prayer for over 750 years, surviving the many tumultuous events that shaped the Jewish Town of Prague. Visitors are not only observing Gothic architecture, but are entering a space deeply rooted in the legacy of the Renaissance-era Rabbi Yehuda Löw, also known as the Prague Maharal. The site is equally famous for the enduring legend of the Golem, said to be created by the rabbi to protect the community and still resting in the synagogue's attic. Today, the synagogue remains a central location for the local religious community, allowing visitors to experience both the historical weight of the structure and its ongoing role as a living house of worship.
